In response to current restrictions created by the COVID-19 health crisis, the BatStateU is waiving the BatStateU Graduate School Admission Test (GSAT) during the COVID -19 pandemic.

The University remains sensitive to the challenges of Graduate School applicants who are interested in continuing advanced studies.

This interim policy supports the flexibility options during the COVID-19 pandemic prioritizing the health and safety of the academic community and our stakeholders  while enabling as much of our mission-related activities to continue as possible.

Steps in Graduate School Admission

  1. Fill out the BatStateU Graduate School Application form.
  2. Submit the following requirements at google link.
    1. Completely filled out application form with attached “2x2” picture with plain background. (Scanned copy)
    2. Transcript of Records (Scanned copy)
    3. Three recommendation letters from the following:
      • Current employer, immediate head or respective Human Resource Department or its equivalent and former advisers or professorsThe recommendation letters should be sealed in an envelope and should be submitted together with other application requirements through postal or courier to College Deans
    4. Write-up on the “Personal Statement for Choosing BatStateU Graduate School”. It must be written in English, 100 words using font style – Times New Roman, font size  -12, paper size - A4
    5. Capsule/Capstone Research Proposal
      1. The Capsule/Capstone Research Proposal must be written in English, 300 words using font style - Times New Roman, font size -12, paper size - A4
      2. Content should include the ff:
        1. Research proposal title/topic
        2. Description of the research topic relative to graduate program being applied for
        3. Objective of the research study
        4. Significance of the research study
        5. Research method or design to be used
        6.  Research method or design to be used
  3. Wait for the application to be evaluated by the Department/College. (The Testing Admission Office will send thru email the filled out application form and TOR to respective Departments/Colleges. The College shall submit lists of evaluated applicants to Testing and Admission Office thru tao@g.batstate-u.edu.ph)

In response to the current restrictions created by the COVID-19 health crisis, the Batangas State University shall not conduct the BatStateU College Admission Test AY 2021-2022 (BatStateU CAT AY 2021-2022).

These interim policies are in accordance with the pertinent provisions of Republic Act No. 10931, the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act (RA 11469), and Revised Implementing Guidelines for CHED Tulong Dunong Program (joint Memorandum Circular Number 4 series of 2019), CHED guidelines on flexible delivery of student services.

Applicants for admission to programs of the University shall not be required to take the Batangas State University College Admission Test (BatStateUCAT) provided that they must satisfy all other requirements in accordance with University academic rules and standards and those mentioned in this interim policy.

  1. General Requirements for Admission

    • Applicants must have completed high school in a recognized school, or must be enrolled in Senior High School, if not yet
    • Applicants must submit the following:
      1. E - copy of Filled –up Application Form
      2. E- copy of two (2) recent 2”x2” ID picture with white or plain background
      3. Certified e- copy of final grades in Grades 8, 9, 10, and 11
    • The original hard copy of requirements will be submitted upon request of the Testing and Admission Office, the University Registrar, and/or College.
  2. Additional Program-specific Requirements for Admission

    1. Engineering Programs BS Chemistry, BS Computer Science, BS Biology, and BS Mathematics
      1. Completion of STEM strand program in Senior High School, or enrolment in the same program, if not yet completed.
      2. Submission of certified copies of final grades from Grade 8 to Grade 11, with marks of at least 80% in Mathematics, Science and English subjects.
    2. BS Architecture and BS Interior Design
      1. Completion of STEM strand/Arts and Design track program in Senior High School, or enrolment in the same program, if not yet completed.
      2. Submission of certified copies of final grades from Grade 8 to Grade 11, with marks of at least 80% in Mathematics, Science and English subjects.
    3. Education Programs and BS Criminology
      1. Completion of any track or strand in senior high school or enrolment in the same program, if not yet completed.
      2. Submission of certified copies of final grades from Grade 8 to Grade 11, with marks of at least 80% in Mathematics, Science and English subjects.
    4. BS Accountancy
      1. Completion of ABM strand program in Senior High School, or enrolment in the same program, if not yet completed.
      2. Submission of certified copies of final grades from Grade 8 to Grade 11, with marks of at least 80% in Mathematics, Science and English subjects.
    5. BS Customs Administration
      1. Completion of ABM/GAS strand program in Senior High School, or enrolment in the same program, if not yet completed.
      2. Submission of certified copies of final grades from Grade 8 to Grade 11, with marks of at least 80% in Mathematics, Science and English subjects.
    6. BS Psychology
      1. Completion of STEM/HUMSS/GAS strand program in Senior High School, or enrolment in the same program, if not yet completed.
      2. Submission of certified copies of final grades from Grade 8 to Grade 11, with marks of at least 80% in Mathematics, Science and English subjects.
    7. BS Nursing and BS Nutrition and Dietetics
      1. Completion of STEM/ GAS strand program in Senior High School, or enrolment in the same program, if not yet completed.
      2. Submission of certified copies of final grades from Grade 8 to Grade 11, with marks of at least 80% in Mathematics, Science and English subjects.
      3. Passed rating on screening/interview by the College.
    8. BS Tourism
      1. Completion of ABM strand/TVL track Major in Home Economics program in Senior High School, or enrolment in the same program, if not yet completed.
      2. Passed rating on screening/interview to be conducted by the College.
    9. BS Agriculture, BS Forestry, BS Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences
      1. Completion of any track or strand in senior high school or enrolment in the same program, if not yet completed.
    10. Bachelor of Fine Arts and Design Major in Visual Communication
      1. Completion of STEM strand/Arts and Design track in Senior High School, or enrolment in the same program, if not yet completed.
    11. BS Information Technology
      1. Completion of STEM strand / TVL track Major in Information and Communication Technology strand program in Senior High School, or enrolment in the same program, if not yet completed.
    12. Technology Programs
      1. Completion of STEM/GAS strand/TVL track in Senior High School, or enrolment in the same program, if not yet completed.
    13. BS Business Administration, Entrepreneurship and Management Accounting
      1. Completion of ABM strand program in Senior High School, or enrolment in the same program, if not yet completed.
    14. BS Public Administration
      1. Completion of ABM/ HUMSS strand program in Senior High School, or enrolment in the same program, if not yet completed.
    15. BS Hospitality Management
      1. Completion of ABM strand/TVL track Major in Home Economics program in Senior High School, or enrolment in the same program, if not yet completed.
    16. BA Communication and BA English Language Studies
      1. Completion of GAS/HUMSS strand in Senior High School, or enrolment in the same program, if not yet completed.
    17. BS Development Communication
      1. Completion of GAS/HUMSS/ABM strand in Senior High School, or enrolment in the same program, if not yet completed.
  3. Admission Application Procedure

    1. Fill out the BatStateU College Application form
    2. Upload the scanned copy of Certification of Grades of applicant for the following subjects for each grade level.
      1. Grades 8 to 10 - Mathematics, Science, English
      2. Grade 11, 1st semester (non-STEM) – General Mathematics, Earth Science and Oral Communication
      3. Grade 11, 2nd semester (non-STEM) - Statistics and Probability, Physical Science &Reading Writing
      4. Grade 11, 1st semester (STEM) – Pre-Calculus, Earth Science, Oral Communication
      5. Grade 11, 2nd semester (STEM) – Basic Calculus, General Chemistry, Reading & Writing
        NOTE: The Certification must be signed and certified correct by the Principal/ School Registrar, or equivalent school officer.
    3. Wait for the confirmation from Testing and Admission Office (TAO); visit frequently the application tracker.
    4. Wait for the release of the BatStateU College Admission result; scheduled date of release shall be given by TAO.
    5. For qualifiers, a Notice of Passing will be posted in the BatStateUCAT link: https://dione.batstate-u.edu.ph/tao/#/batstateucat/.
    6. Wait for the enrollment.
  4. Evaluation of Applications and Criteria for Admission Priority

    • Applications will be evaluated and applicants will be ranked in accordance with the average of the final grades as verified in submitted certifications, and admitted to programs applied for based on rank, subject to quota set or slots allotted per program by the University.

    • Applicants from different strand/ track may be admitted to program applied for, after the admission of the qualified applicants with aligned track / strand, based on rank and subject to available slots allotted per program by the University.
  5. Affirmative Action Program

    Indigent applicants, ALS graduates, students with special needs (SSN), persons with disabilities (PWD), and those belonging to the indigenous people/cultural communities shall be admitted to programs.

    The University shall allot five (5) percent of the total slots or enrolments in programs to accommodate admissions of these applicants. The total number of slots for AAP may be increased based on the average recorded number of qualified AAP applicants and average total population of students in the university in last four academic years, and capacity of programs at the start of the current academic year. Potential for success in the program of each applicant shall be evaluated.

    1. Applicants under AAP must submit the following requirements:
      1. Indigent students
        1. Certification of completion of SHS and respective strand or enrolment therein, if not completed;
        2. Certification of indigency from their respective barangay and Income Tax Return of parent or guardian, if available
      2. ALS graduates
        1. Certification of completion of ALS program, or enrolment therein, if not completed
      3. Indigenous people
        1. Certification of completion of SHS and respective strand or enrolment therein, if not completed;
        2. Certificate of Tribe Membership, or any equivalent certification as belonging to indigenous people/indigenous cultural community
      4. PWD
        1. Certification of completion of SHS and respective strand or enrolment therein, if not completed;
        2. PWD Identification card
  6. Integrity of Application

    The applicant guarantees the completeness and accuracy of information disclosed or contained in documents submitted. Misrepresentation, falsification, and any form of dishonesty committed in relation to application for admission shall be sufficient ground for disqualification from admission to BatStateU.

This interim policy supports the flexibility options during the COVID-19 pandemic prioritizing the health and safety of the academic community and our stakeholders while enabling as much of our mission-related activities to continue as possible.

This policy applies to Integrated School applicants Kindergarten (5 years old), Grades 1 to 7,  and Laboratory School applicants - Kindergarten and Grade 7 (ARASOF-Nasugbu).

Steps in Integrated / Laboratory School Admission Application

In response to restrictions caused by COVID-19 outbreak, Batangas State University is waiving the Integrated School / Laboratory Admission Test due to COVID -19 pandemic. However, applicant must perform the following steps for admission:

  1. Fill out the BatStateU Pre-Elementary, Elementary Application form or BatStateU Junior High School Application form
  2. Fill out the BatStateU CAT Integrated School/ Laboratory School Admission Google form link by providing the name of applicant, grade level ( For Integrated School at PB Main I - Kindergarten, Grades 1 - 7 and for Laboratory School at ARASOF Kindergarten and Grade 7), grades and other needed information.
  3. The following requirements must be attached:
  4. Completely filled out application form with “2x2” picture with white or plain background. (Scanned copy)
  5. Previous grade level report card with no final grades lower than 80 percent in all subjects (scanned copy).
  6. Wait for the confirmation of schedule for online interview from the Testing and Admission Office through tao.isat@g.batstate-u.edu.ph.

Wait for the admission result on the scheduled date of release. An e-mail with an attached Notice of Passing and an Admission Slip will be sent by the Testing and Admission Office through tao.isat@g.batstate-u.edu.ph.

I. General Requirements

A. Bachelors Degree
A foreign applicant who graduated from a high school abroad and has not enrolled in college may be admitted to the University provided that the following requirements are met: (1) completed secondary education from his country; (2) passing rate in a college qualifying national or international foreign-administered examination such as General Certificate of Education (GCE), the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or any equivalent examination:
  • GCE: with a grade of E in other subjects covered in the GCE an two level A passes in the related subjects required in the course applied
  • SAT: with minimum combined score of 1200 in Mathematics, Critical Reading and Writing sub-test areas.
B. Masters and Doctoral Degree
A foreign applicant who has completed a bachelor’s degree may be admitted to the Master’s program, while an applicant who has completed a Master’s degree may be admitted to the doctorate program, provided that (1) the academic requirements for the graduate degree being applied for were met and (2) passed the University’s English Proficiency Test.

C. English Proficiency Test
Applicants whose native language or whose medium of instruction is not English are required to have a minimum score of 46-59 iBT (and its equivalent PBT) in the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and 5.5 iBT (and its equivalent PBT) in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). Applicants must present a copy of his scores to the University. Batangas State University, GPB Main Campus I, Rizal Ave. Batangas City, 4200, Philippines. Applicants who did not pass the TOEFL and TOEIC requirements will undergo the Intensive English Language Program administered by the University’s English Department.

D. BatStateU Admission Test
A bachelor’s degree applicant who fails to satisfy the required foreign-administered examination described in Item I.A shall take the BatStateU Admission Test. Applicants who are required to take the BatStateU Admission Test are advised to apply for examination two months prior to the beginning of a particular semester. A Special Admission test may be given upon request. The BatStateU Admission Test consists of subtests in English, Mathematics, Science and Abstract Reasoning.

During the time of pandemic, however, the university implements interim guidelines on admission test for foreign nationals. Instead of taking the BatStateU Admission Test, other mechanisms to measure foreign applicants’ general academic competence are used. These include scheduled online interviews and academic essays. E. Filipino Applicants from Abroad
Filipinos who graduated from schools abroad applying for (bachelor, master’s and doctorate) degree in the University must also satisfy the same requirements as those for foreign students.

F. Application for Deferment of Enrollment
A qualified applicant who, for a valid reason, cannot enroll in the semester originally applied for may apply for deferment in the succeeding semester by writing to the University Registrar. Such applicant must not have taken any academic college subject prior to enrolment.

II. Requirements

  1. Accomplished admission foreign students application form downloadable at www.batstateu.edu.ph
  2.  A non-refundable application fee of Php 300 for resident foreign students and US$20 for non-resident foreign students in cash, money order, cashier’s or manager’s check payable to Batangas State University
  3. Upper secondary school certificate with a grade equivalent issued by the Department of Education of the country of origin (if freshman) or TOR with equivalent grading system (if transferee) 4. Notarized affidavit of support including bank statements or notarized notice of grant for institutional scholars to cover expenses for the student’s accommodation and subsistence, as well as school dues and other incidental expenses (proof of financial capability)
  4. Photocopy of the student’s passport datapage showing the date and the place of birth
  5. Photocopy of birth certificate or its equivalent duly authenticated by the Philippine Foreign Service Post
  6. Authentication from Consular Section of the Embassy of the Philippines in the country of origin
  7. Certificate of Good Moral Character from the country of origin
  8. Clearance issued by the national (or federal, whichever is applicable) police authorities in the student’s country of origin or legal residence duly authenticated by the Philippine Foreign Service Post having consular jurisdiction over the place
  9. Medical health certificate issued by an authorized physician (from country of origin) including but not limited to chest x-ray, HIV and Hepatitis B clearance and drug test
  10. Official TOEFL or TOEIC results
  11. Student Visa
  12. For applicants in the graduate school, official transcript of records (1 official transcript of records and 3 photo copies) from the schools or university last attended and duly authenticated by the Philippine Foreign Service Post located at the student applicant’s country of origin or legal residence, and official examination certificates (certified English translations of documents must also be submitted), if any, (Duly designated authorities in the country of origin of the applicant shall authenticate the photocopied documents)

  3. Non-refundable testing fee
  4. Original NSO/PSA Birth Certificate
  5. Photocopy of NSO/PSA Birth Certificate
  6. Testing fee of ₱250.00
Age Requirements:
  1. 5 years old by August 1 next year; OR
  2. 5 years old by October 31 next year WITH proof of completion of Early Childhood Education (Day Care / Learning Centers like Day Care or Kinder I Completion Certificate) (DepEd Order No. 20, s. 2018).
Procedures
  1. Get an Application Form for Admission (BatStateU-FO-TAO-01-A) to TAO or download it at https://batstate-u.edu.ph/admission-and-registration/
  2. Submit the filled-up application formwith all the requirementsto the TAO for evaluation.
  3. Pay the Testing fee at the Cashier’s Office.
  4. Submit the Application form to TAO and wait for the issuance of Admission Test Permit for Pre-Elementary and Elementary (BatStateU-FO-TAO-03-A).
  5. On the scheduled date and time, take the BatStateU Kinder II admission test. Testing can also be done upon filing an application, depending on the availability of the examinee, examiner and the testing area.
  6. Present the Test Permit to TAO on the announced release of test result.
  7. Get theNotice of Passing if qualified.
  8. Pay the Reservation Fee at the Cashier’s Office.
  9. Present the proof of payment and the Notice of Passing to TAO to get the Admission Slip for Registration (BatStateU-FO-TAO-05-C).
BatStateU does not accept transferees and returnees in all grade levels, Grade 1 to Grade 12 except for Grade 7 applicants with highest honors who passed the BatStateU Junior High School Admission Test (Guidelines for the Testing, Admission and Retention of BatStateU Integrated School, Article V, Section 1.5).

  1. Read the BatStateU TAO guidelines very carefully.
  2. Fill out and print the online application form.
  3. Submit all the requirements at any TAO Filling Center for evaluation:
    • BatStateU Pablo Borbon Main I Campus (Rizal Ave., Ext., Batangas City)
    • BatStateU Lipa Campus (Marawoy, Lipa City)
    • BatStateU Malvar Campus (G. Leviste St., Poblacion, Malvar, Batangas)
    • BatStateU Nasugbu Campus (R. Martinez St., Brgy. Bucana, Nasugbu Batangas)
  4. If qualified, secure an admission test permit.
  5. On the test date, look for the designated room 30 minutes before time of the test.
  6. Take the BatStateU College Admission Test.
  7. If qualified, wait for the schedule of enrollment.

  2. 2 pcs. 2” x 2” picture of good quality, white background
  3. Original or certified true copy of transcript of records (TOR)

  5. Original marriage contract (for married female applicant only)
  6. Non-refundable testing fee of ₱250.00
Procedures:
  1. Go to the Dean of their respective college / department for evaluation purposes and issuance of Graduate School Application Form (BatStateU-FO-TAO-01-C).
  2. Submit the filled-up application form along with the 2×2 pictures (and a photocopy of the evaluated TOR if Professional Education Applicant) to the Testing and Admission Office for evaluation.
  3. Pay the Testing fee at the Cashier’s Office.
  4. Submit the Application form to TAO and wait for the issuance of Admission Test Permit for Graduate School (BatStateU-FO-TAO-03-D).
  5. On the scheduled date and time, take the BatStateU Graduate School admission test. Testing can also be done upon filing an application, depending on the availability of the examinee, examiner and the testing area.
  6. Test results will be forwarded to the College or Department after thirty (30) minutes.
  7. Get the Admission Slip for Registration (BatStateU-FO-TAO-05-C) to TAO.
