The groundbreaking ceremony for the BatStateU Science, Technology, Engineering and Environmental Research Hub (BatStateU STEER Hub) was held at Batangas State University Main Campus II on June 2, 2016, 2PM. University Officials headed by President Tirso A.Ronquillo led the groundbreaking ceremony which officially marks the beginning of the STEER Hub’s construction.
In his message, President Ronquillo shared that the BatStateU Steer Hub is relevant and significant to the CALABARZON Regional Development Plan as it supports the regional development goals of pursuing research and development, prototyping of new RE technologies and energy-efficient technologies; promoting the use of alternative fuel sources; exploring and developing potential renewable energy resources in the region by engaging SUCs and the corporate sector; institutionalizing of environment and natural resources valuation and accounting system to measure if natural resources are sustainably managed; and ensure quality telecommunication infrastructure and support the implementation of Smarter Philippines program and its components.
To support various research projects and to further enable the researchers of the University on science, technology, engineering and environment, the establishment of the STEER Hub is deemed important because it will provide physical space and access to high grade equipment and software that are helpful in research development. This research infrastructure will be a venue for delivering, training and transferring technologies for capacity-building of stakeholders.
