BatStateU hosts public orientation on GAD CMO


In partnership with CHED Regional Office IVA and Association of Gender and Development Focal Persons of SUCs Region IVA, Batangas State University sponsored the conduct of public orientation on CHED Memorandum Order No. 1 series of 2015 held May 13, 2016 at GPB Main Campus 1. The said CMO establishes the policies and guidelines on gender and development in CHED and higher education institutions.

Resource persons were from CHED regional office and GAD focal persons of Calabarzon SUCs. Ms. Delia M. Rodriguez, GAD Focal Person of CHED and Education Program Specialist II, provided an orientation on the CMO. She discussed the pertinent provisions including the creation and composition of the Gender Focal Point System (GFPS), and mainstreaming the gender perspective in the curricular, research and extension programs. Meanwhile, Mrs. Renifer R. Francisco, CHED Education Program Specialist II and PCW National Gender Resource Pool Member, talked about GAD integration in Calabarzon HEIs. She provided an overview of gender mainstreaming, including policy frameworks, strategy and Gender Mainstreaming Evaluation Framework.

In order for participants to be aware on how to mainstream the gender perspective in academic institutions, GAD initiatives of SUCs and HEIs were shared by the respective GAD focal persons. These were presented by Prof. Juanita A. Villalon, Southern Luzon State University GAD Director; Assoc. Prof. Maria Theresa A. Hernandez, BatStateU GAD Asst. Director; and Mr. Erickson Martinez, De La Salle Lipa Student Services Director.

It was participated by 125 administrators and GAD focal persons of 35 public and private HEIs of Batangas, Cavite and Laguna.
