University Officials led by President Tirso A. Ronquillo joined the mangrove planting activity facilitated by the Batangas City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) on May 21, 2016 at Barangay Malitam, Batangas City. The mangrove planting was part of the Calumpang River Rehabilitation and Ecotourism Development Program of CENRO. Other University Officials took part in the activity including Engr. Romeo De Castro, Director for Extension Services; Assoc. Prof. Jovito Plata, Director for General Services; Dr. Romeo Guillo Jr., Asst. Director for National Service Training Program (Social and Community Involvement Program); and Mr. Alvin De Silva, Asst. Director for Institutional and Industry Development Services.
Engaging in this environmental endeavor is part of the core values of Batangas State University as it advocates a strong sense of concern for the environment and the nation’s natural biodiversity. Aside from BatStateU, major participants of the mangrove planting activity include the local government officials, Batangas City residents and Ms. Philippines Earth 2016 candidates.
