Program Educational Objectives (PEO)


General:

To provide quality Fine Arts education for national development, responsive to industry and global competitiveness


Specific:

  1. The program aims to advance learning, knowledge and competence in the field of fine arts;

  2. Provide a rich learning environment within which students can develop their creativity, critical self-awareness, self-motivation and a sense of ethical purpose in the practice of the profession of fine arts;

  3. Instill awareness of the fundamental value of creating as the essential component in the humanity of making, and of importance of the inter-relatedness between form and function, materials, process, ideas and expression;

  4. Foster a strong sense of nationalism arising from the realization of the role of arts and artists in the nation’s historical and cultural development; and

  5. Educate and produce artists with a strong sense of responsibility, who have rooted in community involvement and equipped with a global perspective.

The following skills, knowledge, and behavior are expected to be attained by students as they progress through the program:

  1. Ability to apply knowledge of mathematics and science to solve fine arts problems
  2. Ability to design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data
  3. Ability to design a system, component, or process to meet the desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability, in accordance to standards
  4. Ability to function on multidisciplinary teams
  5. Ability to identify, formulate, and solve fine arts problems
  6. Understanding of professional and ethical responsibility
  7. Ability to communicate effectively
  8. Broad education necessary to understand the impact of fine arts solutions in a global, economic, environmental, and societal context
  9. Recognition of the need for, and an ability to engage in life-long learning
  10. Knowledge of contemporary issues
  11. Ability to use techniques, skills, and modern fine arts tools necessary for fine arts practice
