Deputy Executive Secretary for General Administration Atty. Mcjill Bryant T. Fernandez led the 51st Commencement Exercises of Batangas State University on September 26, 2019 at the Gov. Feliciano “Sanoy” Leviste Memorial Gymnasium, BatStateU Pablo Borbon Main I, Batangas City.
Bearing the theme, “Expanding Institutional Mandates through Knowledge Creation, Social Relevance and Innovation”, this year’s commencement exercises honored a total of 1,156 graduates from the eleven campuses of BatStateU.
Atty. Fernandez, in his speech, urged the graduates to reflect on their journey prior to graduation, “Graduation marks new beginnings. I think graduation is a good opportunity to look back at what you have done and how you have made an impact on what is around you.”
Moreover, Atty. Fernandez also shared his thoughts about the new generation of learners which he described “pragmatic”—as this generation grew up with advanced technologies and active social media platforms. That being said, he challenged the graduates to make use of their societal experiences to embrace diversity as they start their new journey as professionals.
University President Dr. Tirso A. Ronquillo also shared an inspirational message encouraging the graduates to bring with them the true spirit of a Red Spartan as they leave the portals of BatStateU. He ended his speech saying, “I hope that you [graduates] will contribute to the advancement of the quality of life of our fellow Filipinos.”
The BatStateU Board of Regents and the Executive Committee members headed by Dr. Ronquillo awarded the plaque of recognition to Atty. Fernandez.
To share the graduates’ remarkable success to those who were not able to watch in person, the University had the commencement activity via live stream coverage through the University’s website, www.batstate-u.edu.ph.
