Batangas State University made it two straight at the CALABARZON Gawad KALASAG- Search for Excellence in Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DRRM) and Humanitarian Assistance, as it bagged once again the Best Higher Education Institution Award on July 1, 2019.
BatStateU was recognized for its commitment to DRRM by regularly conducting programs and activities that foster disaster preparedness, prevention, mitigation, response, recovery and rehabilitation in the academic community.
DRRM Focal Person Dr. Nickie Boy A. Manalo received the award from Batangas Governor Hermilando “Dodo” Mandanas during the Joint Council Meeting of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, Provincial Development Council, Provincial Peace and Order Council, Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council, and Provincial School Board, held at the Bulwagang Capitol, Batangas City.
Recently, BatStateU’s Team SIGAW (Solar-Powered Isotropic Generator of Acoustic Wave) also earned special recognition in the Group Category of the 20th National Gawad KALASAG— an annual awarding ceremony for significant initiatives in the promotion and advancement of DRRM in the country. This took place on December 4, 2018 and was attended by University President Dr. Tirso A. Ronquillo and VP for Research Development and Extension Services Engr. Albertson D. Amante.
