Singer-songwriter and UNICEF Ambassador, Mr. Gary Valenciano visited Batangas State University on March 6 to conduct an inspirational talk for students aptly called as Gary V: Face to Face University Tour, in celebration of his 35th anniversary in the showbiz industry.
As part of his project, Valenciano plans to visit 35 campuses in the country (BatStateU being the tenth) to connect with people especially the youth.
“I’m here because of the desire to inspire” he said as he expounded on the reason behind the visit. Valenciano also said that he wanted to give back to the people who have played a significant role in his life, mostly the student body who started his career 35 years ago.
In his talk, Valenciano imparted stories about his life including the highs and the lows, the lessons he got in his journey and the relationship he had with God. He also shared words of encouragement thru his music performing some of his hit songs.
Being the first National Ambassador of UNICEF Philippines, Valenciano wanted to extend help and motivate the youth to become more productive citizens of the society as the number of depression and suicide cases continuously increase globally among young people. Hence, in 2018, he created the concept of Face to Face.
The event, organized by the Guidance and Counseling Office, was capped off with a Q&A session participated by 100 students from different colleges of Pablo Borbon Main I.
