Batangas State University conducted a seminar on Industry 4.0 with the theme, “Demystifying Industry 4.0- How Universities Can Participate?” on February 4, in preparation for its Strategic Plan 2019-2029. University junior and senior officials and members of the Faculty Confederation and Supreme Student Council Confederation gathered in the event held at the Lecture Room, International Affairs Office, BatStateU Pablo Borbon Main I, Batangas City.
The seminar had two sessions; on Industry 4.0 and Manufacturing, and the different opportunities and challenges in the Industry 4.0 environment.
RTI’s Director for Strategy and Innovation Ms. Kirsten Davila Rieth, served as the resource speaker of the event. She talked about the current manufacturing trends and imparted some important matters to consider before investing in Industry 4.0 technologies. As for the second session, Ms. Rieth gave tips on how the university can contribute in boosting the industry.
Aside from the lectures, a post processing discussion was held to get different inputs from the participants. Dr. Napoleon K. Juanillo, DTI Advisor for Innovation, Research, and Entrepreneurship facilitated the activity where students and faculty members had separate sessions.
University President Dr. Tirso A. Ronquillo, on the other hand, explained the need to fully understand the concepts of Industry 4.0 and how it can help in developing the university’s strategic plan in his closing remarks.
University officials are expected to attend series of seminars on Industry 4.0 in line with the completion of its 10-year strategic plan.
