Batangas State University joined the 46th Alay Lakad Walkathon of the Batangas Province Alay Lakad Foundation, Inc. on November 21 at the Batangas Provincial Sports Complex Grand Stand. This year’s theme is, “Kabataan suporta ng bayan”.
The activity aims to raise funds for marginalized and out-of-school youth to help them finish their studies. Over 6, 000 delegates from different government agencies, academic institutions, and non-government organizations in the province joined in the celebration.
The event started with an hour of Zumba followed by ALFI’s famous walk for a cause program which was held at the Sports Oval. The Search for Mutya ng ALFI- Batangas was held afterwards where BatStateU’s muse, Ms. Monica Marasigan from the College of Accountancy, Business, Economics, and International Hospitality Management was hailed as “Ms. Flawless”.
This year’s keynote speaker, former Special Assistant to the President Hon. Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go, uttered his message of commitment to the foundation. One of the highlights of his speech was his pledge to initiate free school supplies programs for all students in public schools. Former Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque Jr. and Senator Nancy Binay also took the stage to express their gratitude.
As announced, the foundation collected nearly Php 1.5 Million which is to be allotted for socio-economic projects. The Department of Education- Batangas Province made the biggest contribution of Php 400, 000.00 this year.
Batangas Governor Hermilando “Dodo” I. Mandanas; Vice Governor Nas Ona; Congressman Raneo Abu; BatStateU President Tirso A. Ronquillo; Samahang Batangueña President Atty. Gina Reyes Mandanas; San Pascual Mayor Roana Conti; Bauan Mayor Bodjie Casapao; Mabini Mayor Bitrics Luistro; PSSupt. Edwin Quilates; and Mr. Philip Salvador also graced the annual celebration.
