The BatStateU community joined in the Regional Development Council Community Outreach Activity and Yakap Bayan: Mobilization and Support Program on October 12, 2018 at Calatagan, Batangas.
The university, thru the efforts of Asst. Prof. Armando V. Mendoza, Jr., Director for Extension Services, Dr. Agnes D. Arellano, Asst. Director for Alumni Affairs, and Dr. Vanessah V. Castillo, Director for Public Relations, was able to provide raincoats for the said activity. A total of 754 indigent pupils of Bukal, Hukay and Encarnacion Elementary schools benefited from the university’s contribution. School supplies and food packs from different government agencies were also given to the students.
In his welcome remarks, the Mayor of the Municipality of Calatagan, Hon. Peter Oliver M. Palacio, expressed his sincerest gratitude to the organizers and donors of the program.
Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Assistant Secretary Jose Antonio Hernandez, also spoke in the activity where he imparted the government’s initiatives on extending help and assistance to various communities. He also shared the program’s objective which is to bring government services closer to communities. In his parting words, the assistant secretary encouraged the students to concentrate on their studies as they prepare for their future.
Each barangay (Barangay Bukal, Hukay and Encarnacion) was able to receive a check worth of Php 16, 666.67 for the purchase of a Shallow Tubewell. Seeds, seedlings, medicines, slippers (for fisherfolks), IEC materials, snacks, banig & malong (for senior citizens), and an irrigation pump were given as well to the chosen communities.
Free medical & dental services as well as free manicure, pedicure, haircut and massage from different government agencies were also enjoyed by the members of the community.
This was made possible thru the contributions of different government agencies which include DSWD, OCD, AFP, PNP, DA, DepEd, DOH, DOLE, NEDA, DENR, DAR, NIA, DOST, DOT, DPWH, CHR, DTI, Philhealth, CSC, CDA, PICE, League of Planners, and the Provincial Government of Batangas.
The participation of BatStateU in the said program ensures its commitment on one of its priorities that is extending help and assistance to the community thru an outreach project. This ensures its fast initiative to extend help by giving particular necessities which are immediate needs of the people in the communities.
