BatStateU JPLPC-Malvar marks 50th Founding Anniversary

BatStateU JPLPC-Malvar celebrated its 50th Founding Anniversary on September 28, 2018 with the theme, “Building the Nation through Innovative and Transformative Education”.

The celebration kicked off with a motorcade led by university officials, faculty members and students, and was followed by the opening program held at the JPLPC-Malvar Gymnasium.

In his welcome remarks, Dr. Expedito V. Acorda, the Executive Director for JPLPC-Malvar, expressed his deepest gratitude to the officials and special guests who took time to witness the remarkable event. He also acknowledged the presence of Congresswoman Ma. Theresa V. Collantes of the 3rd District of Batangas and Mayor Alberto C. Lat of the Municipality of Malvar, who also shared their commitment to Batangas State University.

The major highlight of this year’s anniversary celebration was the groundbreaking ceremony of the five-storey College of Industrial Technology Building held in front of the Admin. Building. The structure will house different learning facilities such as computer laboratories, classrooms and multi-media rooms, with a total floor area of 2, 698.93 square meters. The structure’s construction duration is up to 400 calendar days.

The ceremony was followed by the blessing and inauguration of the university façade and gymnasium led by Fr. Joel Villanueva and the university’s Executive Committee.

BatStateU President Dr. Tirso A. Ronquillo, then presented the accomplishments of the university for the past four years under his administration. These include ISO 9001:2008 certification; performance in licensure examinations; research awards and recognitions; and infrastructure developments. He also shared his plans for BatStateU as he starts his second term as University President.

Meanwhile in the afternoon, Dr. Ronquillo facilitated a coffee table discussion with the university vice presidents, executive directors, directors, members of the Faculty Association and student leaders, called “Kapihan with the President”. This serves as a consultative session with the president and university stakeholders where they can exchange thoughts and ideas about the university’s administration. This meeting aims to build a harmonious environment within the university.

At the end of the program, a cultural presentation was offered by various BatStateU performing groups to add to the event’s festivity.
