AACCUP survey team visits five BatStateU Programs

The Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) visited Batangas State University, Pablo Borbon Main (PBM) I on September 26-28, 2018 to evaluate five programs under the College of Accountancy, Business, Economics and International Hospitality Management (CABEIHM), College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) and College of Teacher Education (CTE).

BS Mathematics and BS Hotel and Restaurant Management were submitted for Level III, Phase I survey visit while Bachelor of Secondary Education underwent preliminary survey visit. For graduate programs, M.A. in Education and Ph.D. in Educational Management, were submitted for first survey visit.

“Accreditation is really a life-blood of our university. This [survey visit] signifies our intense commitment to provide quality education and our adherence to educational standards” said the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Erma B. Quinay in her welcome remarks during the opening program.

Thirteen accreditors were sent by the AACCUP coming from different universities and colleges. These include Dr. Jao-jao A, Somyden of BengSU; Dr. Arlene P. Ablog of ISPSC; Dr. Sherrilyn B. Quintos of BPSU; Prof. Liceria G. Enteria of DMMMSU; Dr. Marcela T. Caluscosin of DMMMSU; Dr. Jaime M. Forbes of BPSU; Dr. Corazon G. Pardo of UNP; Dr. Fe S. Soriano of PangSU; Dr. Jeanno M. Manzano of ISPSC; Dr. Ederlina M. Sumail of ISPSC; Dr. Ramil L. Dacal of PangSU; Dr. Eleanor Belizar of UNP; and Dr. Cristeta C. Dulos of PangSU, as the Overall Coordinator.

During the three-day evaluation, the accreditors were able to conduct classroom observations, ocular visits to offices, laboratories and extension projects, and interviews among the students, college officials, faculty, alumni and parents.

In the exit conference, the accreditors presented their findings based on the data they have collected and also discussed the strengths of the programs and recommendations needed for continuous improvement.

University President Dr. Tirso A. Ronquillo, afterwards, delivered a message before the panel of accreditors. “Rest assured that BatStateU will stay committed to quality and excellence. Rest assured that every centavo that we will be spending will be meant to satisfy and comply with all the recommendations stated in your report” he said.

The president also expressed his gratitude to the faculty members and staff who really worked hard in the accreditation.

Finally, the overall coordinator shared the general impression where she emphasized the positive attitude of faculty members despite of difficulties and challenges. She congratulated President Ronquillo for creating a positive environment within the university.
