Corporate communication is one of the main factors in achieving excellent customer service. As an academic institution that caters to the needs of various stakeholders, BatStateU Human Resources Management Office (HRMO) held a workshop in Corporate Competence and Management Communication to develop the communication skills of its personnel. Teaching and non-teaching staff attended the two-day workshop on May 29-30 at the Lecture Room, International Affairs Office, CITE Building, BatStateU Pablo Borbon Main I, Batangas City.
In the opening program, Mr. Noel Alberto S. Omandap, Asst. Director for HRMO warmly welcomed the participants and shared the university’s training and development plan which includes corporate communication, conflict resolution and time & stress management.
The keynote speaker during the two-day workshop was Dr. Sheila T. Viesca, Founder and CEO of TalkShop- a leading facility for leadership excellence, communication training, personality development, and teaching certification.
“If you adhere to the values of Batangas State University, you will naturally become a person of value” said Dr. Viesca as she stressed the importance of practicing good manners and proper conduct. The key lectures discussed by the speaker focused on Creating the Right Impression, Corporate Communication, Communicating for Results, Power Presentation, Diplomacy in the Workplace, Leadership Training, and Personal Effectiveness. These topics enabled the participants to gain confidence, credibility and professionalism in delivering quality service towards clients.
In terms of image enhancement, Dr. Viesca motivated the participants with a quote saying, “How we look is a reflection of our wholeness within.”
Different group and individual exercises were conducted which helped the participants practice corporate speaking and achieve different communication strategies.
