BatStateU Holds 50th Commencement Exercises

A total of 762 graduates from different BatStateU campuses proudly marched during the 50th Commencement Exercises with this year’s theme, “Buiding the Nation through Innovative and Transformative Education” on February 9, 2018 at the Gov. Feliciano “Sanoy” Leviste Memorial Multipurpose Gymnasium, BatStateU Pablo Borbon Main I, Batangas City.

In his warm congratulatory message, the University President, Dr. Tirso A. Ronquillo expressed, “As you take a major leap in the pursuit of your careers, more difficult challenges will come your way. Nevertheless, we are confident that your generation will conquer them with courage and maturity turning them into opportunities that will make you stronger, wiser and better individuals. Before you leave the portals of Batangas State University, we share our hopes that you continue to personify the core values that have been instilled in you by this great institution.”

After the brief but inspirational message of the president, he introduced the event’s guest of honor and speaker, Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Commissioner and Chairperson-Designate of BatStateU Board of Regents, Dr.  Lilian A. De Las Llagas represented by Dr. Emmylou B. Yanga, Director IV of CHED Regional Office IV.

As Dr. Yanga delivers the commencement address of Commissioner De Las Llagas to the graduates, she stressed, “On your graduation today, you are a step closer to the realization of your dreams. However, it is my firm belief that whoever bears to dream must never cease to learn. We should always be reminded that changes and shift in any field of your career are inevitable and it is important that you learn to adapt and be responsive to those changes. Caring and Curing as a philosophy is a good personal guide. We have to take care of ourselves and our country as we cure the illnesses of illiteracy, ignorance and apathy”. She ended the speech sharing to the Red Spartan Community the famous quote of former US President Barack Obama, “We did not come to fear the future. We came to shape it.”

Together with the University President were Atty. Cesar Castor, Representative of Hon. Francis “Chiz” G. Escudero, Board Regent; Engr. Amando A. Plata, Alumni Regent; Dr. George P.
