BatStateU Opens SCUAA National Olympic 2017

     The State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA)National Olympic 2017 with the theme “PASUC @ 49: Paving the Path Towards Internationalization of State Universities and Colleges Through Sports” had its enthralling opening at Batangas Sports Complex, Bolbok Batangas City on February 19,2017.  The six-day sports joust (February19-24, 2017) is officially hosted by  Batangas State University under the leadership of President, Dr. Tirso A. Ronquillo.

     The SCUAA 2017 opening started with eighteen athletic delegations parade  with  drum and lyre corps coming from the BatStateU- ARSOF and Malvar campuses. The parade/ event was closely monitored by the Philippine National Police and the security team of the host school.

     As the host institution of this year’s National SCUAA 2017, Dr. Ronquillo conveyed his warmest welcome to the different delegations, their respective athletes, coaches, school officials and expressed his warm gratitude to the assistance provided by the Provincial Government.

     Gov. Hermilando Mandanas, who graced the event, proudly announced that scholarship grants are provided for student athletes in Batangas. This aims to improve the sports development program of the province.

     Meanwhile, Senator Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara who served as the keynote speaker shared that the Senate granted subsidy amounting to minimum of five million pesos intended for athletes and tournaments for each state college and university all over the Philippines. He also added that eight billion pesos is allotted to all SUCs for the students to enjoy free tuition fee aside from the subsidy given by the government for infrastructure purposes. He ended his message with an assurance that he will be a partner in every SUC’s

     To highlight the ceremony and to welcome the delegates, guests and visitors to the province of Batangas, almost five thousand BatStateU students performed a field demonstration choreographed by Mr. Bryan Carlos, Mr. Alvin Remo and Mr. Jojo Conti showcasing a wonderful  intricate dance moves which highlights a kaleidoscope of colors that delighted the hundreds of audience in the complex.
