University hosts Regional Research Committee Meeting

         Batangas State University hosted the 1st Regional Development Council – Regional Research Committee meeting on January 20, 2017 at the 7th floor of the CALABARZON Integrated Research and Training Center, BatStateU Pablo Borbon Main I.

            CHED IV-A Regional Director Emmylou B. Yanga presided the committee meeting which was attended by Dr. Edna dA. Vida of Southern Tagalog Agriculture and Resources Research and Development Consortium; Dr. Tirso A. Ronquillo, Dr. Erma B. Quinay, Dr. Shirley G. Cabrera, Engr. Albertson D. Amante and Asst. Prof. Anita P. Aquino of Batangas State University; Dr. Hosea L. Matel of Cavite State University; Dr. Rommel Octavius Nuestro of Laguna State Polytechnic University; Dr. Editha De Jesus of Southern Luzon State University; Dr. German Peñaranda of University of Rizal System; Dr. Felix M. Mercado of Manuel S. Envarga University Foundation; and representatives from Department of Environmental and Natural Resources IV-A, Department of Agriculture IV-A, Department of Trade and Industry IV-A, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Labor and Employment IV-A, and National Economic Development Authority IV-A.

            During the meeting, 3 resolutions were passed by the Council which included endorsement of the following: (a) CALABARZON Integrated Research and Training Center as a research and training center in CALABARZON, (b) STEER Hub as a research hub for Science, Engineering and Technology, and (c) Technopark as a research, development and incubation center in CALABARZON.

Also discussed in the meeting are the 4th CALABARZON Research and Statistics Research Forum report, national harmonized research and development agenda, preparation of the CALABARZON regional development research agenda 2018-2022, updates on the conduct of preliminary studies on 5 CALABARZON priority industries, NEDA Region IV-A Research Proposal for the NEDA R&D Project, child labor situation in CALABARZON, status and updates of the Explore Database System and role of family, religion and school on illegal drugs.
